बेंगलुरु पुलिस ने एक व्यक्ति को गिरफ्तार किया है, जिसकी पत्नी ने दक्षिण-पूर्वी बेंगलुरु स्थित अपने घर में कथित तौर पर आत्महत्या कर ली थी। आरोप है कि ससुराल वाले दहेज के लिए प्रताड़ित करते थे।
दक्षिण बेंगलुरु के सुड्डागुंटेपल्या स्थित अपने आवास पर 27 वर्षीय सॉफ्टवेयर इंजीनियर महिला का शव फांसी फंदे से लटका हुआ मिला। महिला के माता-पिता ने शिकायत दर्ज कराई है कि पति के परिवार द्वारा दहेज के लिए लगातार प्रताड़ित किए जाने के बाद उसने आत्महत्या कर ली। मृतक शिल्पा की शादी पूर्व सॉफ्टवेयर इंजीनियर प्रवीण से ढाई साल पहले हुई थी। दंपति का डेढ़ साल का एक बच्चा है।
सॉफ्टवेयर इंजीनियर थी महिला
शादी से पहले शिल्पा ने इंजीनियरिंग में स्नातक की पढ़ाई पूरी की थी और इंफोसिस में सॉफ्टवेयर इंजीनियर के रूप में काम करती थी। जबकि प्रवीण ओरेकल में कार्यरत थे। शादी के एक साल बाद ही उन्होंने नौकरी से इस्तीफा दे दिया और खाद्य पदार्थों का व्यवसाय शुरू कर दिया।
मायके से 5 लाख रुपये लाने का दबाव बनाया
शिकायत के अनुसार, प्रवीण के परिवार ने शादी के दौरान शुरुआत में 15 लाख रुपये नकद, 150 ग्राम सोने के आभूषण और घरेलू सामान की मांग की थी। हालाँकि ये मांगें पूरी कर दी गईं। शिल्पा के परिवार ने आरोप लगाया कि उत्पीड़न जारी रहा और बार-बार अतिरिक्त पैसे और कीमती सामान की मांग की गई। छह महीने पहले परिवार ने दावा किया कि प्रवीण के व्यवसाय को सहारा देने के लिए उन पर 5 लाख रुपये देने का दबाव डाला गया था।
सांवले रंग को लेकर किया गया अपमानित
शिल्पा के माता-पिता ने आगे आरोप लगाया कि उनके सांवले रंग को लेकर उन्हें अपमानित किया गया। शिकायत में कहा गया कि उसकी सास अक्सर उसे, “तुम काली हो और मेरे बेटे के लिए अच्छी जोड़ी नहीं हो। उसे छोड़ दो, हम उसके लिए एक बेहतर दुल्हन ढूंढ़ लेंगे।” कहकर प्रताड़ित करते थे।
महिला का पति हिरासत में
पुलिस ने बताया कि सुद्दागुंटेपल्या पुलिस स्टेशन में दहेज उत्पीड़न और अप्राकृतिक मृत्यु का मामला दर्ज किया गया है। प्रवीण को पूछताछ के लिए हिरासत में लिया गया है। एक सहायक पुलिस आयुक्त जांच की निगरानी कर रहे हैं। शिल्पा का शव पोस्टमार्टम के बाद उनके परिवार को सौंप दिया गया है।
डेढ़ महीने की गर्भवती थी महिला
